Assistant district attorney Lance Beal prosecuted the case.

Kennon Milstead, 19, was sentenced to 20 years in prison, with 10 years suspended, in the 2020 shooting death of 24-year-old Kee Sam, a Black transgender woman.
Judge Colbert said he weighed the facts of the case, the victim's age and a history of mental health struggles, among other factors, when making his sentencing decision.
